SAN ANTONIO (Texas News Radio) — Interstate 35 is shut down in Austin police, at first because of a crash, and now due to a suspicious package.
Austin police say the initial crash happened before 11 a.m. on the southbound lanes of the interstate near William Cannon and Slaughter. Traffic in both directions were shut down because of it.
About an hour later, the bomb squad had to be brought in to investigate a suspicious package found in one of the vehicles.
No word on a timeline for the highway to be reopened.
