SAN ANTONIO (Texas News Radio) — Texas governor Greg Abbott is one of the most popular governors in the country.
A quarterly survey evaluating the popularity of governors by Morning Consult found Abbott was the 10th most popular top state executive, behind nine other Republicans.
The survey found 56 percent approve of the governor’s performance and 26 percent disapprove.
Northeastern Republicans performed well in the rankings.
Massachusetts governor Charlie Baker was the most liked with 69 percent approving of his work. Maryland governor Larry Hogan was second, Alabama governor Kay Ivey third, New Hampshire governor Chris Sununu fourth and South Dakota governor Dennis Daugaard was fifth.
On the opposite end, Oklahoma governor Mary Fallin was the least liked — 74 percent disapproved of her work and only 19 percent approved. Connecticut governor Dan Malloy was right behind in second.
Illinois governor Bruce Rauner was a distant third, Kentucky governor Matt Bevin was fourth, and Alaska governor Bill Walker.
