SAN ANTONIO (Texas News Radio) — A convicted felon from Blanco is facing felony charges for what police found in his home and his car Monday night.
Blanco police say they were helping the Blanco County Sheriff’s Office on a report of a convicted felon allegedly having weapons, drugs and a potential explosive device just before 7 p.m.
City police officers had arrived to the Lake of the Hills subdivision in Spring Branch off of U.S. 281 north of FM 306 and were awaiting for a deputy to show up.
Before the deputy could get there, officers saw their suspect in an SUV following another vehicle, attempting to leave the area and go south on U.S. 281. The officers decided to stop both drivers.
The driver of the first car, Rachel Wilson, was arrested by Blanco police for outstanding warrants in the City of Blanco. A K9 swept that vehicle and a search found almost five grams of methamphetamine.
Wilson is now facing felony drug possession charges and is being held in the Blanco County Jail.
The driver of the other vehicle and their initial suspect, Jimmy Lower, also had methamphetamine and weapons. The sheriff’s office arrested Lower on those charges.
While searching his SUV, deputies found a piece of military ordnance inside. They immediately stopped the search and called in the Austin Police Department Bomb Squad. The bomb squad determined it was a low-power piece of weaponry. They would not specifically say what it was.
Blanco County and federal authorities have filed felony charges for these crimes.
Just after midnight Tuesday morning, Blanco police officers searched his home — which is in city limits — and found body armor, more weapons and drugs.
The police department says it will be filing additional charges for those findings.
