SAN ANTONIO (Texas News Radio) — A Temple man was indicted last month for overcharging an elderly woman with dementia more than $47,000 for lawn care.

The Temple Daily Telegram reported Thursday the woman’s son contacted Belton police in January, saying she was deceptively overcharged for yard work at her home by L&J Lawn Service.

An affidavit said the company advertises a senior discount of $3,600 per year.  Supposedly, the document claims the woman was charged multiple times a year with additional charges.

Over seven years, the business’ owner, 60-year-old Lus Fuentes, charged $76,145 for lawn services — overpaying for services from 2013 through this year by $47,345.

A warrant for Fuentes’ arrest was issued in early May on a theft charge.  He was arrested and released the next day.
